About
Hey there! Here's a bit about me.
I'm Samuel Seeman, a student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Engineering. I'm originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
I started my online presence at the age of 14 when I learned to set up my own online business with SavvyTech Support, a small tech support service. This seemingly small task propelled me into the world of Wordpress, which led
me to self-hosting, which in turn dropped me into the grand and glorious world of zeros and ones.
This experience inspired me to love learning for its own sake–I discovered that I had interests and passions I cared about, not just
ones I was taught in school. That introduction with programming led me to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering.
Outside of the classroom and coding, I love a wide variety of activities such as theater, graphic design, politics, paddleboarding, and photography. This range of interests reflects the fact that I like to be a well-rounded person, pursuing many different areas of interest at once.
My biggest fundamental belief is the opposition of a term called Anti-Critical Fundamentalism (coined by Dr. Tim Sansbury). It makes sense if you break it down backwards:
Fundamentalism is the practice of believing a concept absolutely and letting it define your life (which isn't a bad thing), and the Anti-Critical part refers to the practice
of rejecting the viewpoints of others at any cost (which is a bad thing). So in other words, Anti-Critical Fundamentalism = Holding on to one point of view and rejecting all others.
Is there a better way to define our society at large today? It's my goal to reject this concept, and be open minded to debate and discussion while having firm beliefs of my own.
One of my biggest ways I am growing this year is with my people skills. I tend to think like an engineer (crazy right?) which means I can prioritize completions over camaraderie–I tend to
value getting things done as opposed to making friends along the way. This is something college has taught me a lot about and I'm excited to see how I continue to grow in this area in the future!
However, that leads to my biggest strength which is my dedication to completion. If there's a project that I'm asked to do, I'll do it, and if there's something that I want to fix, I will fix it.
Here you'll find some of my work, intern, and volunteer experience. I try to stay well-rounded; you'll see a
wide variety of abilities and interests.
